Teachers strike at Ravenshaw campus (My first story)

Cuttack,04.11.16: Despite rains, seeking implementation of UGC guidelines and pay hike lectures of various departments have staged demonstration in front of vice chancellors office here in Ravenshaw university campus on Friday morning.

         The members of the Ravenshaw University Teachers Association (RUTA)on Friday staged Dharana in front of vice chancellor's office to protest against delay in implementing the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) and re-designation of teachers nomenclature. The agitating teachers alleged that although the stage government had issued notification for implementation of CAS for teachers promotion and re-designation (assistant professor in place of lecturer and associate professor in place of reader)in April this year, the same was yet to be implemented by the university. Teachers have alleged that non implementation of CAS has resulted in stagnation in their career.

        The association claimed that though there will be no considerable change in the teachers' pay structures the re-designation will ensure timely promotion of teachers in accordance to the UGC norms. "The university authorities have assured as implementation of CAS. Hence we have postponed our agitation for the time being, "said Bikram Mishra, a member of the RUTA.
